Davao City:   Members of the Davao City Police Office will implement immediately the “no riding-in-tandem policy even if the driver and rider have protective gears.

DCPO chief Police Colonel Kirby John Kraft, said the measure is in compliance to strictly enforce physical distancing.

He said allowing riding-in-tandem is a violation of the physical distancing.

“This is a crucial time in controlling the COVID-19 or all efforts in the quarantine will be futile,” Kraft said.

In a separate interview, Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said scrapping the riding-in-tandem has been recommended by the emergency operation center of the local task force against the transmission of the COVID-19 as adherence to social distancing.

She said only the driver is allowed on every motorcycle running on the city.

“Compliance to the social/physical distancing is the primary issue behind disallowing the riding-in-tandem,” Duterte-Carpio said. (PIA XI-Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)
