Davao City – Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio will raise the salary of job order employees to ₱ 10,700 from ₱ 10,000 beginning 2021.
She explained the ₱ 10,000-level is still within the poverty line based on the standard set by the Philippine Statistical Authority.
Duterte-Carpio wants that no one under the city government must experience hardship even under normal circumstances.
“No one among the government workers will be within the poverty line according to the PSA standard next year,” she said.
Aside from the reopening of the Roxas Night Market, the lifting of the liquor ban and the holding of the Undas, Duterte-Carpio held that the city has to prepare for the 2021 budget and the holding of the State-of-the-City address.
However, due to the pandemic, she said that the SOCA will just be done through the web and will be broadcast on the radio to prevent mass gathering.
Duterte-Carpio bared that preparations are being done for the reopening of the Roxas Avenue Night Market tomorrow.
She also announced the lifting of the liquor ban on September 21, primarily for people involved in selling liquor to earn.
“However, beer houses are still not allowed to sell liquor under the DTI regulations since the lifting of the liquor ban is purely for business, where people involved in the actual selling of liquor earn,” Duterte-Carpio said.
She stressed that the liquor ban in neighborhood is lifted due to business, which means, those who are employed in the liquor business would also earn and not to the happiness of the residents.
Duterte-Carpio also said that no regulation so far has been decided with regards to the holding of the Undas, but prodded residents to visit their dearly departed either before or after Undas to avoid mass gathering. (PIA XI – Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)
