Davao City Government reaches 2020 budget income by 100.03%

Davao City: The city government of Davao has achieved 100.03% of its 2020 target income amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

Acting City Treasurer Atty. Lawrence Bantiding bared that the city earned a total income of P10,340,632,692.97 from local taxes, service income, business income, economic enterprise, other income, and from the internal revenue allotment (IRA). The amount also exceeded the P9,660,770,776.57 income earned in 2019.

Aside from the P10.340 billion income, the city also received a P462,047,644 Bayanihan grant from the national government in 2020, which was allocated for the city’s COVID-19 response.

The IRA received by the city in 2020 amounted to P5,544,571,968, surpassing the 2019 allotment of P4,935,559,092.

Atty. Bantiding, who heads the City Treasurer Office (CTO), said the city’s target income was pegged at P10,337,732,662 at the start of 2020.

The city collected a total of P3,788,826,722.66 from local taxes in 2020 to earn more than it did in 2019 with a collection of P3,527,933,115.79. The 2020 target for local tax collection was P3,449,350,000.

Business taxes alone generated P2,317,618,292.14, surpassing the P2 billion 2020 target and the 2019 collection of P2,188,971,488.33.

In 2020, the city also earned P737,787,712.16 from real property taxes as against P608,188,477.21 collected in 2019; P250,619,266.50 from property transfer taxes as against P223,409,603.58 in 2019; P161,670,149.11 from franchise taxes as against P159,403,996.76 in 2019; P131,527,735.60 from tax revenue-fines and penalties as against P108,281,256.55 in 2019;

P69,906,772.72 from special levy on idle lands as against P68,996,096.62 in 2019; P64,286,360.90 from community taxes as against P65,493,385.16 in 2019; P12,460,550.73 from sand and gravel and other quarry products as against P15,567,935.67 in 2019; P12,029,468.67 from amusement taxes as against P58,564,472.58 in 2019; P12,019,777.76 from taxes on delivery trucks/vans as against P11,967,040.75 in 2019; P8,513,200 from other taxes-environmental tax as against P8,261,481 in 2019; P5,502,327.79 from tax on printing and publication as against P5,387,517.49 in 2019; and P4,885,108.58 from professional taxes as against P5,440,364.09 in 2019.

Meanwhile, the city earned a total of P599,770,184.29 service income from permit fees (P246,111,374.64), other service income (P245,480,726.90), clearance and certification fees (P61,273,303.35), fines and penalties-service income (P19,267,149.35), fees on weights and measure (P11,699,194.50), registration fees (P9,928,286.06), and inspection fees (P5,960,149.48).

The city also generated a total of P114,851,407.60 revenue from business income consisting of garbage fees (P62,481,410.94), transportation system fees at Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (P23,143,833.55), parking fees (P10,974,745), other business income (P10,028,863.61), medical, dental fees/hospital fees (P7,736,557.50), rent income (P289,384.63), fines and penalties-business income (P181,714.37), and library fees-school fees (P14,898).

However, collection from the city’s economic enterprise dropped to P128,230,276.61 from P171,765,267.33 in 2019. Of this amount, receipts from market operations amounted to P78,321,173.62; receipts from slaughterhouse operations reached P30,333,540.86; receipts from cemetery operations totaled P15,756,712.70; rent income-Davao City Recreation Center amounted to P2,034,330; toll and terminal fees at Sta. Ana Port logged P780,297.48; rent income-Pasalubong Center registered P435,679.65; rent income-PPA netted P384,915.30, and rent income-Magsaysay Park reached P183,627.

The Davao City government also generated P164,432,133.81 from other income sources – interest income P101,513,168.82; share from income of economic zone P61,443,030.52; share from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office P1,445,966.53; miscellaneous income P27,467.94; and garnished/confiscated/abandoned seized goods and properties P2,500…..
