Davao City – The 25,000 workers of private business establishments affected by the anti-Covid-19 restrictions continue to get food assistance from the city government.

As of Wednesday, the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) has reached the 4th round of relief distribution to the affected workers of business establishments that are still not allowed to operate under the Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ).

CSWDO Head Maria Luisa Bermudo said her office has already distributed food packs to 25,000 workers from one thousand business establishments that are still not in full operation.

“Some of these employees were retrenched, some only work for 2 days per week because their company put their employees on rotation,” she said.

Bermudo said the big number of the affected workers are from restaurant and entertainment businesses.

Employees who are prioritized by the CSWDO are those working in personal care services, entertainment industry, sports and fitness, church groups, events and management group, freelancers, construction industry, manpower services, and other industries that have been affected since the implementation of lockdown and movement restriction in the city.

Bermudo also said that employers of establishments can submit the list of their employees who are either affected due to closure or unable to report because of the limited operational capacity.

For validation and scheduling, employers can go to the nearest CSWDO district offices or contact the CSWDO thru (082) 227-1617, (082) 295-3500, and (082) 225-0417.
