The City Government of Davao has finally activated a team to look into the situation of both city residents stranded outside Davao City and people stranded in the city but living outside Davao Region.
Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said that Davao Oriental and Maguindanao are willing to accept their stranded residents.
She said she is also waiting for the confirmation of Cotabato City Mayor Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi to take in residents of the city stranded in Davao City.
“We are processing their travel from the city to their respective areas of destination,” Duterte-Carpio said.
She urged the stranded persons to text only with the team at 09562441691; 09510868056 addressed at davaocitystrandedpax@gmail.com or follow them at the social media pages of the Davao City government in order for them to get the information accordingly.
Duterte-Carpio said taking more people in from the outside would mean additional infection for Davao City.
A doctor said the current 415 beds the city has are not enough if the city intends to bring in 500 stranded persons.
“We consulted an epidemiologist and infectious disease consultant on this concern. The city for now only has to open a center and organize a team to attend to the stranded persons. The city has a total of 1,200 individuals,” Duterte-Carpio said.
She said the city is still investigating if these persons are truly stranded because it does not have a means of validating their pieces of evidence.
