Dapa Under Lockdown For One Week

Governor Francisco Matugas suspends trip of passenger vessels or pumpboats going to Dapa starting Monday except for cargoes only.

Siargao mayors agreed to impose stricter measures to prevent the spread of cases. Boats going to Sta. Monica, Socorro and Del Carmen from Surigao City will remain open but checkpoints will be activated in the seaports and stricter measures in the land border of Dapa.

In a meeting with the mayors of Siargao with the chiefs of municipal police stations, coast guard and DILG, this week, the Provincial Health Office reportedpositive cases surged to 44 last January 21 this year unlike last December 2020.

Dapa, according to Governor Matugas has 15 active cases, San Benito 9, Burgos 7, Del Carmen 5, General Luna 4, Socorro 2, Pilar 1 and San Isidro 1. Only the municipality of Sta. Monica has no active case.

Dr. Arlene Felizarta reported this morning that as of yesterday January 22, cases in Dapa and other municipalities have reported recoveries. Dapa now reduced to 14 active cases, Burgos remains to 7, San Benito reduced to 6, Del Carmen remains to 5, General Luna reduced to 3 while Pilar, San Isidro and Socorro have 1 active case each.

The municipal mayors also suspended the cockfighting after 2 of General Luna positive cases of CoViD-19 had a history of attending the cockfight in Dapa and Burgos. (via Governor’s Weekend Report RPN DXKS)
