Zamboanga District I Councilor Joselito Macrohon is set to file a case with the Office of the Ombudsman against the city’s Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) and some city government officials with regards to the controversial procurement of the 90 garbage trucks and dump trucks from China.
Macrohon said he is now conferring with his legal counsel for the filing of the graft charges against the BAC officials, including City Hall officials who are behind the alleged anomalous procurement.
“I am also trying to get more documents and evidence to strengthen the graft case. I was trying to secure documents from City Hall as to how they procured the China-made trucks, but I do not know why they don’t want to give me the government documents. Where is transparency here?” he lamented.
The filing of the graft case is his last option to once and for all clarify the matter on the brand of the vehicles, the real price, and also if the BAC officials followed the government procurement process and if there were competitive bidding.
“We want to know if there were other contractors which tried to participate in the bidding o luto-luto lang este, ” the councilor said.
Until the ombudsman will clarify all doubts, Macrohon said, the concerned individuals are still not guilty.
