Davao City“Ang kusog nga kultura sa bayanihan nagkinahanglan usab ug usa ka kusog nga kultura sa pag pasalamat. A strong bayanihan culture also needs a strong culture of gratitude,” this was part of the message of Governor Jayvee Tyron L. Uy as the provincial government celebrates its annual Thanksgiving Program or Interfaith Day under the Provincial Spiritual and Values Restoration Program.  More than 2000 participants coming from various religious denominations of the entire province joined the thanksgiving celebration.

Leading the significant event were Governor Uy together with Bishop Mathew Tapus of Christian Apostolic Fellowship of Papua New Guinea and Most Rev. Medel S. Aseo, D.D.- Bishop Diocese of Tagum, Davao del Norte.

During the program a theatrical play of The Road to Damascus was also held.

This year anchors the verse: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God,” which was taken from the book of Philippians Chapter 4, verse 6.

Gov. Uy expressed his gratitude to all the religious leaders and to the provincial officials and employees for the full support for the success of the program.

You are the very reason why government exists in the first place. Rest assured that we in the government will always do our best to deliver programs that you deserve,” said Gov. Uy.

The participants of the said activity are the pastors from the different municipalities and the invited pastors outside Comval, priests, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), Capitol Employees, Indigenous People (IPs), DepEd personnel, Muslims, barangay officials led by their punong barangay, and provincial and municipal officials led by their mayors.

“I hope that you will still join me in the next years to come especially that an impending change will soon happen, as we are set to change the name of our province from Compostela Valley to Davao de Oro. I assure you that this change is for the better,” Gov. Uy ended.
