Complete treatment for Cervical Cancer is now available in Zamboanga City at Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) Cancer Center with its new Brachytherapy Machine.
Dr. Jeng Misuari Alihuddin, Gynecologic Oncologist said, “May kumpletong gamutan na tayo sa Cervical Cancer kasi hindi pwedeng chemotherapy lang, external beam radiation lang, dapat till Brachytherapy.”
She said, for cervical cancer, treatment will last from six to seven weeks.
This Brachytherapy Machine is used for treatment of cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, and prostate cancer.
This machine is the first in Region 9 and will not only serve Zamboanga Peninsula but also Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.
Alihuddin added, with the machine, they can now serve the marginalized sector. Before they need to go to Manila, Cebu, and Davao for treatment.
For Cervical Cancer, they have 20 to 30 patients per month. This includes new and those continuing their treatment. (R.G Antonet Go)
