Zamboanga City – The Commission on Election (Comelec) officially started the filing of Certificate of Candidacy (COC) Friday morning at a local mall located in this city.
First to file were Team Colorao led by Former Congressman and Mayor Celso Lobregat.
Other candidates for the team who filed were for Vice Mayor: Benjamin Guingona IV for congress district 1 Khymer Olaso and district 2 Jerry Perez.
For councilors those who filed were district 1 Joselito Macrohon, Marxander Jaime Cabato, Pilarica Ledesma, Abdulwakil Kasim, Dr. Rodel Agbulos, Dan Vicente, and Lyn Dela Peña Diamson. For district 2 Lilibeth Nuño, Vincent Paul Elago, RF Mariano, Fred Atilano, Bong Simbajon, Cary John Pioc, Shaun Alavar and Vino Guingona.
The group was composed of PDP Laban, Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP), and Adelante Zamboanga.
Second to file was the group of Vice Mayor Rommel Agan known as Double A.
Agan filed for Mayor while Councilor Elbert Atilano Sr. filed for Vice Mayor.
For their council slate, for District 1, former Councilor Charlie Mariano, Sai Cortes, and Nur Abing, while for District 2, Councilor Jimmy Villaflores, Councilor Jihan Edding, and Vita Agan.
Comelec Zamboanga City, District 1 election officer, Atty. Stephen Roy Cañete personally supervised the filing.
Some of the requirements for the filing of COC submitted were completely filed out COC forms, Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance, the documents must be notarized by a notary public, passport size photo, and documentary stamps.
Coronavirus Disease 2019 protocol were followed during the filing those in the area must wear either surgical mask, N95, or KN95 mask, face shield must also be worn, and only two person’s will be allowed to accompany those who will file the COC.
Atty. Jan Christian Babiera received the application for top positions such as Mayor, Vice Mayor, and district 2 congress while Atty. Stephen Roy Cañete received COCs of councilors for district 1
The current number of registered voters for Zamboanga City for district 1, the city has 193,912 registered voters covering 37 barangays while 209,552 for district 2 covering 61 barangays.
