Davao City (PIA) – Ecoteneo, an environment group from the Ateneo de Davao University has invited  barangay chairs from  182 barangays of this city to a summit dubbed  “Oya Davao Ecowaste Summit,” starting Jan. 21 to 23 at the ADDU-Jacinto Campus, here.

Carmela Marie Santos, a representative of Ecoteneo said they are expecting the presence of barangay leaders and student leaders from other schools and have a coordinated action plan for proper management of ecowastes.

She said proper management of ecowastes entails the proper disposition of garbage as stipulated under Republic Act 9003 through waste segregation.

“This is also a follow up on our ban on the single-use plastic at the ADDU,” Santos said. She said the primary objective is to make a coordinated effort in making Davao City as plastic-waste free city.

Santos said partner barangays and schools have been invited to send in their leaders for the first day exposure trip to the landfill and to the one and-a-half day planning session.
