The City Government of Zamboanga has allotted ₱ 1.4 million for the celebration of Zamboanga Hermosa Festival 2020.
Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar said, this is the smallest budget for the fiesta celebration.
The funding will be used for the celebration to include the prizes and other expenditures.
Last 2019, the city spent ₱ 9 million for the fiesta celebration.
This year Zamboanga Hermosa Festival 2020 will be celebrated differently due to the pandemic Coronavirus Disease 2020 with the theme #SafeHermosa2020.
Mostly, the celebration will be done on-line and will concentrate on quarantine and Covid-19 safe activities.
Some of the events are: October 1 to 15, Opening of Cosechas de Zamboanga 2020, October 3-11, Novena Mass at Fort Pilar, October 10 to 11, Copa de Alcalde Golf Tournament, Las Ofrenda de Flores con el La Virgen del Pilar from barangay Vitali to Ayala to Talon-Talon to City Hall, October 12, Feast of Our Lady of the Pillar & Pontifical Mass, and October 24, Dive Safari at Once Islas.
For the competitions there will be Original Chavacano Video Music Festival 2020, Hermosa Fest Tiktok Challenge, Hermosa Festival Photography Competition 2020, and BATALLA 2020: Hermosa Mega Crew Hip-hop Competition.
The celebration of the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival is in honor of the city’s patron saint Nuestra Señora La Virgen del Pilar. It is also the biggest fiesta and being celebrated in the entire Zamboanga City. (R.G. Antonet A. Go)
