A total of 656 out of the 679 frontline workers who were infected with COVID-19 have recovered, according to City Health Officer Dr. Dulce Miravite during the virtual press briefing Monday, January 11.

There are 17 active cases but 6 frontline workers have succumbed to the disease since the COVID pandemic hit the city in March last year.

Of the total frontline workers infected with the coronavirus disease, 362 are uniformed men, 43 are local government unit employees while 229 are health care workers among other groups.

For uniformed men, 350 have already recovered but 11 are active cases. 218 of the health care workers affected with the disease have recovered and 10 are active cases while 39 of the LGU workers COVID-infected have recovered while 3 remain active cases.

Meanwhile, Miravite said adjustments are being made in terms of assignment of personnel manning LGU-operated isolation facilities following the end of contract of some contract workers assigned in the facilities.

She assured that the City Government is doing everything possible to make sure that the needed services with the needed number of staff are provided in the different isolation facilities.

On the other hand, on queries related to the supposed increasing number of mortalities due to COVID in the city, the city health officer said most of those who succumbed to the coronavirus disease have manifested critical or severe symptoms as they had existing medical conditions that complicate the outcome of the infection.
