Police Regional Office 7 (PRO7) achieved major success after the arrest of 50 members of 14 gun-for-hire groups operating in Central Visayas since January 2025. The operation is part of the ongoing campaign against gun-for-hire and violent groups in the region.
Among the groups that were neutralized are Nadera, Gido, Tañeza, Yllaya, Garciano, Ybañez, Marapoc, Manoy, Rusiana, Caballero, Bobong, Darryl, Llatona, and Comaling. Eight of the arrested were identified group leaders, while ten were killed during the police encounter. 27 different weapons used in their crimes were also seized.
PRO7 has also cracked up those undercover weapons factories supplying guns to criminal groups. It has been learned that some of the weapons came from illegal gun-making sites that are possibly connected to international gun trafficking.
According to PBGen Redrico A. Maranan, Regional Director of PRO7, the neutralization of security groups in Central Visayas has a big impact.
Police operation and surveillance are ongoing to arrest other members who are yet to be arrested. The public is also urged to be vigilant and notify police immediately if someone is seen carrying a weapon.
