Caloocan whips Cabuyao; Boracay triumphs

BATANG Kankaloo-Caloocan overwhelmed Bagong Cabuyao-Homelab Nation, 107-80, on Monday night for its fifth straight win and solo fifth place in the Manila Bankers Life-Pilipinas Super League Pro Division Second Conference Dumper Cup at the Caloocan Sports Complex.

Nhomer Gonzales fired 13 points and grabbed four rebounds for the Koolers, while former Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) big man Gabby Espinas chipped in 13 points.

Paul Sanga and Riordan Galicia also had 12 and 11 points, respectively, for Caloocan, which scored a fitting follow up to a 96-86 win over Cagayan de Oro-PSP last December 19 and improved to 5-1 won-lost in the league presented by Winzir and co-presented by SCD Cosmetics and Dumper party-list, and supported by NET 25, Adcon, Wcube Solutions Inc., MDC, Unisol, Don Benitos and Finn Cotton.

Coming off an 83-103 drubbing at the hands of the Pampanga G Lanterns, Cabuyao fell to 1-5.

Boracay, meanwhile, dismantled San Pedro Laguna-ARS, 91-73, for its second consecutive triumph.

Former PBA star Mac Cardona led four other teammates in double digits with 15 points, five rebounds and four assists for the Islanders, while Jeymark Mallari added 12 points.

Joseph Peñaredondo, Jaymar Gimpayan and Damian Lasco tallied 12, 10, and 10 points, respectively, as Boracay did an encore on its 79-62 ripping of 1Munti last December 22 and improved to 3-4.

The Warriors failed to rebound from a 61-94 defeat to San Juan last January 5 and dropped to 1-6.

Crispin Barnedo paced Cabuyao with 24 points and 11 rebounds, while Jude Codiñera had 16 points and five rebounds.

Sancho Vitug and Angelo Obuyes also got 11 and 10 points, respectively, for Cabuyao.

Mark Doligon scored 22 points for San Pedro, while Eduard Doroteo and Jan Formento contributed 18 and 13, points, respectively.
