Davao City: Mayor Inday Sara Duterte has called out Dabawenyos defying movement restrictions under the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) for non-essential purposes and for leisure to prepare their last will and P2-million for medical care against coronavirus.
Mayor Sara expressed her disappointment over Davao City Disaster Radio that many people who are neither workers nor buying for essential goods, but still went out on the first Monday of the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) in Davao City.
“Sa tanang nanggawas diha nga nagsuroy-suroy, nga wala nipalit og pagkaon o tambal, niadto sa bangko o sa doctor, ug dili padulong sa trabaho nila—mag andam na sila sa ilang last will ug 2 Million pesos para sa inyong hospital bills. (For those who are loitering outside, not buying food or medicine, going to the banks or their doctors, going to work—prepare your last will and two million pesos for your hospital bills),” Mayor Sara said.
She said a mass grave is also ready for them anytime, in case crematoriums will be crowded with dead Covid-19 patients.
“Kung mangamatay mo, modiretso mo sa cremation, kung daghan na kaayo ang mamatay, diretso ka didto sa mass grave (If you die, you will be cremated, if bodies will pile up, you go into the mass grave),” Mayor Sara said.
Since the implementation of community quarantines, the mayor has been warning Dabawenyos that the city government will not shoulder the medical expenses of people who acquired the coronavirus infection by violating the quarantine protocols.
So far, according to Mayor Sara, Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) has not yet reported an individual with confirmed positive Covid-19 case acquired by violating ECQ and GCQ guidelines.
Mayor Sara stressed that Davao City is still under GCQ, which means movement around the city is still restricted to essential movements such as work for those who are allowed, buying of essential goods, going to the doctor and other non-leisure activities.
As of 8 a.m. of May 18, Davao City has 67 active Covid-19 cases, 92 recovered cases and 25 deaths. CIO
