Councilor Jay R. Pascual accepted the referral to his committee of the fisherfolk’s complaints as reported by Councilor James K. Judith II particularly the registration and yearly renewal of their fishing boat, business permit and other requirements.

On Monday’s regular session presided over by Vice Mayor Jocelyn B. Rodriguez, Pascual confirmed that the renewal of registration is done yearly but this may be adjusted, however, the recording of data (journal) should be done daily as practiced.

He said the daily data recording cannot be sacrificed as this will be submitted to the Bureau of Fish and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) as reference and basis for future project proposals of the city.

If the fishermen themselves find it too tedious, they may somehow request other members of their family to do it instead, the councilor suggested.

Kay mao man gud na atong i-submit sa BFAR so we really need the data,” Pascual further explained.

For his part, Judith reiterated the city may forego with the journal, citing that most of the data are irrelevant to be recorded on a daily basis.
