Jokoy (not his real name), is one of the lucky 11 probationers and parolees who happily tied the knot with their partners in a mass wedding administered by Mayor Klarex Uy dubbed as ‘Kasalan ng Bayan,’ earlier this afternoon, at the Parole and Probation Administration (PPA) – Cagayan de Oro City.
Jokoy married his partner of 17 years. He was imprisoned in October 2018, and after three months, he was released in January 2019.
According to his wife, life has been difficult for them during those months that Jokoy was imprisoned.
“Lisud kay sa among pag-uban kami man gyud, so naa siya sa taas, mangita gyud ko pamaagi nga makaadto pud ko dadto, naa ko mahatag sa iya sa taas, kay wala man sila’y income didto, so naningkamot ko, nagtrabaho ko adto nga time, at the same time, nami’y duha ka bata, so working mom,” she said.
“Siya pud ang ikatulo nako nga estudyante kay kailangan man sya matagaan bisan gagmay lang dadto, wala pu’y labot sa kwarta nga akong gihatag, magdala gyud og pagkaon, something kay lisud gyud kaayo ang kahimtang nga sa taas,”Jokoy’s wife recalled.
Jokoy’s kids were only in 4th and 3rd grades that time. At present, Joy has three kids, and is expecting another child from his wife, who is four months pregnant.
Just like the other couples, they also received free lechon and cake as a gift from Mayor Klarex Uy.
