A cache of high powered firearms and munitions were nabbed from a person with warrant of arrest in Labason, Zamboanga del Norte, police regional office reported.
Police operatives of CIDG – Zamboanga del Norte together with the 2nd Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Mobile Force Company, EOD/k9 unit, 901st Company of RMFB9, Zamboanga del Norte Police Provincial Office- Intel Unit and Labason Municipal Police Station conducted law enforcement operation through implementation of Search Warrant at Brgy. Gil Sanchez, Labason in Zamboanga Del Norte at about 11:00 AM, August 18, 2020.
Police Capt. Edwin Duco, police regional office spokesman in a statement claimed, the operation led to the arrest of Allan Balidiong Gitalan, 64 years old. He was arrested based on the search warrant number. 03-2020 for violation of R.A. 10591 otherwise known as illegal possession of illegal firearms and munitions, issued by Presiding Judge Anthony D. Isaw, RTC, 9th Judicial Region, Branch 28, Liloy, Zamboanga Del Norte dated August 14, 2020.
Police confiscated the following items during the operation from Gitalan – one (1) fragmentation grenade; one-unit M16 rifle; nine pieces magazine for M16 rifle; 50 pieces ammunition for M16 rifle; one-unit Remington 12 gauge shot gun; four pieces ammunition for 12 gauge shot gun; one-unit 9mm sub-machine gun KG9; 19 pieces ammunition for 9mm sub-machine gun kg9; two pieces magazine for 9mm sub-machine gun KG9; five-pieces of magazine of caliber .45 pistol; 97 pieces of ammunitions for Caliber .45; and 240 pieces of empty shell of caliber .45.
Gitalan will be turned over to court for his commitment and court proceedings, Duco concluded.
