FOR the fifth consecutive year, BusinessMirror was adjudged the “Business News Source of the Year” at Friday night’s Economic Journalists of the Philippines (EJAP) Awards for 2021.

BusinessMirror earlier earned that distinction for business news coverage overall in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020.

In 2015, BusinessMirror was also the Business News Source of the Year, which means it earned the distinction for six of the past seven years.

The newspaper, which recently marked its 17th anniversary, bagged the top EJAP award for having the most number of winners (four out of eight) in the individual categories.

Lenie Lectura was named Energy Reporter of the Year; and Bianca Cuaresma for Banking.

Tyrone Jasper Piad won for best in Trade reporting while his article “Village people’s zest won’t let Covid stop the music of business,” was chosen the best in the Business Feature category. Piad has since moved to the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

The other individual winners are: Miguel Camus, Telecoms Reporter of the Year; Angela Celis-Mercurio, Macroeconomy Reporter of the Year; Doris Dumlao-Abadilla, PSE-SEC Reporter of the Year; Elijah Felice Rosales, Finance Reporter of the Year.

BusinessMirror was founded in October 2005 by the late ambassador to Laos, the businessman-philanthropist Antonio L. Cabangon Chua, who also set up dozens of enterprises under the ALC Group of Companies.
