BoC Expands Zamboanga Customs Jurisdiction

Bureau of Customs (BoC) has issued a controversial Customs Administrative Order (CAO), placing the entire province of Zamboanga del Norte and Zamboanga Sibugay under the control and jurisdiction of the Bureau of Customs District Office of Zamboanga City.

In his order, Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero, has placed the entire provinces of Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanda del Sur and Zamboanga Sibugay under the jurisdiction of BoC Zamboanga to spur socio-economic development in the two provinces and in the city.

He said the CAO now defines the new jurisdictional limits if BoC district offices of Cagayan de Oro and Zamboanga City

BoC Zamboanga City Distict Collector Segundo Barte Jr., said the CAO will enhance economic activity, development and increased trade movement and facilitation in the entire Zamboanga Peninsula.

In the order of Guerrero, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga Sibugay are “hereby restored to and placed under the jurisdiction of the port of Zamboanga instead of the port of Cagayan de Oro.”

The sub-port of entry for Zamboanga are Isabela City in Basilan, Jolo in Sulu, Bongao in Tawi-Tawi and Dipolog in Zamboanga del Norte.
