Former Congressman and Mayor Celso Lobregat who also heads the local Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP Laban) in the city has announced yesterday its Vice Mayoralty bet for their group for the upcoming May 2022 election.
Lobregat announced, first district councilor, Benjamin B. Guingona IV will be their vice mayoralty bet.
He said, it was a though decision to make between Guingona and Councilor Miguel Alavar III as both are qualified however, he has to decide. Though Lobregat himself did not yet make any formal announcement on his political plans.
For the election, the group will be composed of PDP Laban, Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP), and Adelante Zamboanga.
Guingona entered politics in 2013 where he is expected to finish his term as councilor.
Both his uncle Senator TG Guingona and Nonong Guingona were into politics.
Guingona said, he will continue and follow the contract for more peaceful developed and progressive Zamboanga, his advocacy on good governance and the youth.
The team also revealed their candidate for congress district two Councilor Jerry Perez who heads the Liga ng mga Barangay.
Lobregat said, end of the month they will do the selection process for councilors where each district has six vacancies. For the congress district one they will decide before August 22.
Possible candidates for councilors are RF Mariano, Bong Simbajon, Rudy Lim, Dr. Rodel Agbulos, Mark Saavedra, Cary John Pioc, Fred Atilano and others. (R.G. Antonet A. Go)
