As of August 30, 2021, there have already been 49 CoVID-19 variants of concern listed in the province of Benguet according to the report of Dr. Maria Imelda Ulep, Provincial Health Coordinator and Benguet IMT Incident Commander, during the PIATF meeting on Wednesday, September 01, 2021.
Of the number, 33 are Alpha cases, 12 are Beta, and four are Delta.
Three of the Alpha cases and one each of the Beta and Delta cases have died while 30 of the Alpha and 11 of the Beta cases have already recovered.
Two Delta cases are still recovering.
The Department of Health Cordillera on Wednesday reported 61 new COVID-19 infections.
Benguet has now a total caseload of 11,246 with 725 active cases, 291 deaths and 10,228 recoveries.
With the increasing number of CoVID-19 cases in the province, hospitals are becoming full again.
Based on the report from the Cordillera Regional Task Force on August 31, 2021, Benguet is at 84% in terms of hospital bed capacity rate. This means, only a few rooms are left for CoVID-19 patients.
The Provincial Government of Benguet headed by Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas keeps warning the public to stay indoors if there is no essential activity outside, and to always adhere to health protocols.
