As a backgrounder, the management of your Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative has been made aware of the high increase of the daily peak demand of electricity consumption in the province from the usual 54MW to 64MW. This is brought about by the El Niรฑo phenomenon in the province that has resulted in the increased consumption in the cooling systems of both residential and industrial MCOs.
In consideration of the health and safety concerns brought about by the unusual and atypical heat index in the province for the past month, your INEC management tried to find ways to possibly help our MCOs in their increase usage of their air-cooling system by decreasing the electricity rates for the month.
Upon computation of our rates for the month of April, the electricity charges for residential has been computed to P10.9988/kWh.
I asked the INEC Committee on Rates to study and present options on how we could lower the rates during this time. Upon presentation of the options, I have chosen to negotiate with our power supplier and asked that we defer a portion of our April payment so as not to pass on this amount to our MCOs in this billing period. Thank you Aboitiz group!

It is our hope that your electric cooperativeโs adjustment measures in the rates shall somewhat unburden the discomfort brought about by the extreme weather conditions in the Province of Ilocos Norte!
