Carbonell, a DOST merit scholar, achieved a rating of 93 percent.
Balico, an RA 7687 (Republic Act No. 7687, also known as the Science and Technology Scholarship Act of 1994) scholar, scored 92.80 percent.
“Your remarkable achievement is a testament to your hard work, determination and dedication to your academic pursuits,” DOST Ilocos Norte Director Benjamin Mercado Jr.
“As you embark on this new chapter, may you continue to strive for excellence and contribute to the advancement of science and technology for our nation. The DOST-PSTO (Provincial Science and Technology Office) Ilocos Norte, is proud of your success and remains committed to supporting your journey toward a brighter future.”
Balico, a magna cum laude graduate, shared on Facebook how her decision to pursue secondary education with a major in science fulfilled her passion for inspiring others.
Initially planning to take a pre-law course, she pivoted to teaching, driven by a newfound purpose and the opportunity provided by the DOST-Science Education Institute undergraduate scholarship.
“The decision to pursue education has brought me fulfillment and a sense of purpose I never expected,” she said. (Leilanie Adriano)
