Bacolod City – The provincial government of Negros Occidental and highly urbanized Bacolod City have lifted their respective bans on the entry of live domestic and wild birds from Panay and Guimaras.

A joint executive order issued recently by Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez allows the entry of ready to lay pullets, poultry products, including eggs and manure, from the Visayas, including Panay and Guimaras.

Following declaration of Capiz as an Avian Influenza Free Province by the Department of Agriculture, the Regional Advisory Committee for Animal Disease Control and Emergency (RAD-ADCE) – Western Visayas approved a resolution requesting Negros Occidental and Bacolod City to lift the banning of poultry, poultry products and by-products from Panay and Guimaras islands.

In view of the resolution of RAD-ADCE, Provincial Veterinarian Placeda Lemana recommended the lifting of the ban on the entry of poultry and its byproducts into Negros Occidental.

This led to the amendment of Section 1 of Joint Executive Order No. 02, Series of 2022, that establishes guidelines for the entry of all live domestic and wild birds, and their products, including eggs and manure, from areas with reported cases of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza into Negros Occidental, and Bacolod City.
