The city government plans to set up more vaccination sites to address the influx of vaccinees with the expected arrival of more vaccines in the coming months.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong said the city will partner with the private sector for assistance in the manpower, venue and logistical requirements.
The City Health Services Office under Dr. Rowena Galpo noted a surge in the demand for vaccines in the past weeks based on the number of people flocking to the city’s four vaccination sites.
This is expected to continue after the city receives more vaccine allocation and opens vaccination slots to the workers.
The mayor said the Baguio Country Club had offered to establish one site and is now starting ground preparations for it.
SM City Baguio had expressed willingness to expand its current location to accommodate more vaccinees but the city would need to provide more personnel.
Another possible site would be at the Philippine Export Zone Authority (PEZA) which has the capability to provide health workers to cater to the nearby barangays.
The mayor said more private hospitals will be tapped to provide vaccination services.
He said the city will also request the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Baguio (HRAB) and the Filipino Chinese community to also pitch in to help augment the city’s vaccination resources.
