The Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) expressed its gratitude to the residents of the city for their utmost cooperation to the strict implementation of the 24-hour curfew in the city as part of the guidelines governing the implementation of the Luzonwide enhanced community quarantine.

BCPO City Director Police Col. Allen Rae F. Co disclosed that from April 2-7, 2020, the local police force was not able to apprehend curfew violators.

“We are grateful to our residents for showing their cooperation and support to the prevailing curfew in our city because we cannot achieve such accomplishment without the participation of the public,” Co stressed.

With the extension of the Luzonwide enhanced community quarantine, the police official disclosed that the local police force will remain consistent and will become stricter in the implementation of the guidelines for people to stay at home and for the observance of the proper social distancing.

The BCPO chief pointed out that to avoid being asked by the police personnel for documents allowing them to be outside their residences, those who do not have something important to do should stay home and have bonding with their family members instead of exposing themselves to the possibility of contracting the deadly virus and spread the same in their communities which should not be the case.

According to him, police personnel manning the checkpoints and conducting the regular foot and mobile patrols have been instructed to exercise maximum tolerance in the discharge of their assigned duties and responsibilities to prevent the occurrence of any untoward incidents that will result to the occurrence of untoward incidents that will compromise the safety of the people.

He reminded assigned person per household to make sure that they bring with them their valid home quarantine passes for them to be able to be allowed to pass through the established checkpoints in the different parts of the city because local officials and police personnel want people to stay at home instead of loitering in the city doing nothing.

Co stipulated the people should understand that the government is doing everything to ensure that they will not contract the virus and eventually spread the same because the more people that will be infected with the Corona Virus Disease (COVID) 2019 will result to more problems which is actually being controlled through the strict implementation of policies for them to stay at home.

At present, BCPO is maximizing the available police personnel to man the checkpoints and conduct the foot and mobile patrols in the city during the duration of the extended enhanced community quarantine while allowing some of them to take the appropriate rest to be able to relive their colleagues to prevent them from being exhausted considering that there is still a long way to go for the quarantine that will be up to the end of the month.
