Pormal nang umupo bilang ika-animnapung pinuno ng Philippine Army si Major General Macairog Alberto.
Sa isinagawang turn over ceremony sa Philippine Army Headquarters Sa Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City, pinasalamatan ni Alberto si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa ibinigay nitong tiwala sa kanya para pamunuan ang isa sa major contingent ng Armed Forces for the Philippines (AFP).
Nangako naman si Alberto na gagawin ang makakaya para masupil ang mga lawless elements lalo na sa mindanao na isa aniya sa mga pangunahing problema ng bansa.
“Ladies and gentlemen, it is with honor and pride that I assume the position of the Commanding General of the Philippine Army and answer the call of duty to serve and face the challenges of leadership. I would like to thank the Lord God for this opportunity to serve our country and people in this capacity. Truly God is great.” Pahayag ni Alberto.
Samantala sa kanyang farewell speech, nagpasalamat din si Lt. Gen. Rolando Bautista kay Pangulong Duterte sa ibinigay aniya nitong pagkakataon sa kanya para makapaglingkod sa bayan.
Una nang inanunsyo ni Pangulong Duterte na kanyang itatalaga si Bautista bilang susunod na kalihim ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
“The administration of Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte has elevated the status of the arm profession and professionalize it. Being in the service has taken on a new meaning and the youth find it a noble profession and a stable career choice.” Pahayag ni Bautista.
