Bacolod City – Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer brushed aside reports that a family member of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has plans to run for governor of Negros Occidental in 2025.

“Nakabati, pero wala ko ginasapak (I’ve heard it, but chose to ignore it),” Ferrer said when asked for a comment.

There are reports in the social media that Mikey Arroyo, son of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, may run for governor of Negros Occidental.

Ferrer said that such allegations may come true, if the person being alluded to will file his Certificate of Candidacy during the election.

Vinny, son of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., was also reported in social media to be eyeing a run for a congressional post in Bacolod City, should it be divided into two political districts.

Ferrer said it is too early to discuss politics, since the May elections just ended.

As to the report that he may opt to run for a congressional post in the 4th district of Negros Occidental in 2025, Ferrer said it will depend on the mission to be given to him by the Lord.

Lacson and Ferrer have another term left, should they decide to seek reelection in 2025. (Gilbert Bayoran via The Visayan Daily Star (TVDS), photo courtesy of TVDS)
