Bacolod City – The provincial government of Negros Occidental is targeting 300 to 500 minors with comorbidities for pediatric vaccinations during its launching today at the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City.
Provincial Inter Agency Task Force action officer Rayfrando Diaz yesterday said that they will also expand the pediatric vaccinations at the Cadiz District Hospital and Lorenzo Zayco District Hospital in Kabankalan City, as additional venues since they have also pediatric departments to check the health conditions of vaccinees if there are side effects.
The use of Pfizer vaccines has been recommended for inoculation of the minors, Diaz said.
Local government units in Negros Occidental, through their respective City and Municipal Health Offices, have been required to submit list of pediatric vaccinees to the Provincial Health Office, after being informed of the uniform guidelines set by the Department of Health, such as requiring minors of medical certificates to prove of their existing illness, and consent of their parents or guardians.
Diaz said that the regular conduct of pediatric vaccinations will start on November 3 at Cadiz District Hospital and Lorenzo Zayco District Hospital in Kabankalan City, stressing also the province has enough supply of Pfizer vaccines.
He also said that the vaccination at the Negros Residences as well as in the different LGUs will continue without let-up, as well as the conduct of antigen testing, although they monitored reluctance from targeted individuals.
While we do contact tracing, our primary focus remains on vaccination, Diaz said. “It is more of a pro-active approach that will save a lot of lives”, he stressed.
