Bacolod City – The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod requested Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez to implement City Ordinance No. 537, Series of 2011 or the “Special Children’s Ordinance of Bacolod City,” and to immediately convene the Special Children’s Board.
The resolution authored by Councilor Em Ang said City Ordinance No. 537, or the “Special Children’s Ordinance of Bacolod City,” was passed on May 11, 2011, to provide services, protect the welfare, and generate public awareness and support for children with physical, mental, or developmental disability.
Section 6 of City Ordinance No. 537 mandates the creation of the Special Children’s Board with specific powers and functions of formulating and implementing measures, policies, and programs for children with special needs, and their families, it said.
