Bacolod City – The Sangguniang Panlungsod enjoined the City of Bacolod thru Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez to institutionalize and support the World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD) to be celebrated on April 2.
The resolution authored by Councilor Cindy Rojas and co-authored by Councilor Em Ang, said the Philippine participates in the global celebration of World Autism Awareness Day every April 2 as declared by the United Nations General Assembly thru Resolution 62/139, issued on December 18, 2007.
Many organizations and foundations observe World Autism Awareness Day in order to support increasing awareness about autism’s various sign and symptoms and promoting acceptance of individuals with autism, it said.
World Autism Awareness Day also support individuals with autism to help them overcome any impediment in their development, the resolution said.
