Bacolod City – Senator Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV assured Bacolod Mayor Greg Gasataya of his full support for Bacolod City’s educational projects during a courtesy call recently at the Bacolod City Government Center, a press release from the Bacolod City Communications Office said.

Aquino, who topped the senatorial race in Bacolod with 150,271 votes in the May 2025 elections, thanked Bacolodnons for their overwhelming support.

“We can help out. I’m just a phone call away, whatever you guys need,” he stated, outlining his education reform agenda.

Aquino is expected to chair the Senate Committee on Education.

The senator shared his four key priorities: accelerated construction of classrooms nationwide; distribution of updated textbooks and learning materials; tuition cost reduction initiatives for students; and expansion of scholarship programs for Filipino youth.

“As you know, kung may maitutulong kami, text lang (If we can help, just send a text),” Aquino told Gasataya, who was joined by Councilors Em Ang, Caesar Distrito, Celia Flor, and Chief Tourism Operations Officer Ma. Teresa Manalili.

Gasataya welcomed the proposals, reiterating education’s central role in Bacolod’s development agenda. He pledged the local government’s support to align national education reforms with the city’s growth objectives. (news/photo by bcco)
