Bacolod: NOCPPO intensifies campaign vs illegal gambling, drugs

Bacolod City – The Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office has intensified its campaign against all forms of illegal activities, including illegal betting, with 201 anti-illegal gambling operations conducted across the province, leading to the arrest of 596 individuals, based on its January to June accomplishment record.

The arrested individuals were said to be involved in various forms of illegal betting, and have been charged with the violation and in accordance with RA 9287, an act increasing the penalties for illegal numbers games. The records of NOCPPO shows that P98,284 in bets were confiscated.

The NOCPPO is continuing its commitment to the strict implementation of the mandate to make the province gambling-free.

“Our data shows that we are still continuing our mandate to eradicate illegal gambling activities in every locality in Negros Occidental. Our present data shows our continuous commitment against illegal gambling in the province,” NOCPPO spokesperson P. Capt. Judesses Catalogo said in an interview.

Moreover, as part of its intensified mandate, the PNP personnel regularly undergo on-the-spot personal gadget inspections to ensure that they are not involved in any e-gambling applications, said Catalogo.

If caught, personnel will be under investigation and will face administrative actions imposed by the PNP. NOCPPO commits that serious cases will be filed against violators.

“Philippine National Police are committed to this campaign. Inside the organization, the PNP personnel should not be involved directly or indirectly in any forms of illegal gambling. That is because we want to build the integrity of our personnel,” he added.

Furthermore, in the same period, NOCPPO reported the confiscation of around 3,751.98 grams of shabu with an estimated value of P25.5 million, and around 154.19 grams of marijuana valued at more than P104,000. (Gilbert Bayoran via tvds)
