Bacolod City – The Police Regional Office – Negros Island Region activated the Joint Focus Legal Action Team (JFLAT) recently at Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr. in Bacolod City, which is aimed at strengthening legal and law enforcement coordination across the region.

The event brought together key stakeholders from across the justice sector, underscoring a united, whole-of-government approach, enhancing the delivery of justice throughout Negros Island, according to PLt. Col. Joem Malong, returning PRO-NIR spokesperson.

The formation of JFLAT, according to Malong, marked a strategic leap in aligning operational and legal efforts between the Philippine National Police (PNP) and prosecutorial bodies.

The initiative was designed to harmonize case-building protocols, provide real-time legal consultation, and ensure the efficient and accurate filing of criminal charges – solidifying JFLAT’s role as a vital mechanism in upholding the rule of law in the region, she added.

The inter-agency initiative is aligned with national directives to move beyond mere arrests, Malong further said.

By closing the gaps between investigation and litigation, the government aims to deliver timely, effective, and just resolutions to criminal cases, she stressed.

With the activation of JFLAT under PRO-NIR, the regional command sends a clear and unified message: “In the Negros Island Region, justice will not only be pursued—it will be coordinated, relentless, and firmly grounded in legal excellence,” Malong said.

The activation ceremony was attended by Prosecutor Flosemer Chris Gonzales, the JFLAT chairperson, P/Brig. Gen Arnold Ibay, PRO-NIR regional director, Brig. Gen Ted Dumosmog, commander of the 303rd Infantry Brigade, 3ID, Priscilla Escobin regional director of the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) – Western Visayas.
