Bacolod City – Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said he will ask Primelectric Holdings Inc. to give a presentation on its proposed joint venture agreement (JVA) with Central Negros Electric Cooperative in case this will push through.

A referendum on the proposed JVA between Primelectric and Ceneco is scheduled on June 24 to 25 and July 1 to 2, for the purpose of securing the decision of Ceneco member-consumers on the JVA.

Benitez said they had initial discussions with Primelectric, and he believes the presentation of the whole plan will be done soon.

“The hearing conducted by Councilor Claudio Puentevella had been finished and I’ve heard there were three requirements: lower rate of electricity, no fluctuation or brownouts, and going green,” he said.

Benitez said that according to Primelectric, if the JVA will run Ceneco, the systems loss will not exceed 5 percent. But if Ceneco will run the distribution utility (DU), the systems loss can go up to 8 percent. So it appears that it won’t pass on its inefficiency in running the DU to the consumers.
