Bacolod City – Only 10 out of 17 barangays will be participating in the 2023 MassKara Festival Street and Arena Dance Competition in Bacolod City in October.
Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez had confirmed that the Bacolod Yuhum Foundation incurred a deficit of not only P6 million during the 2022 MassKara Festival, but more than that. The city paid more than eight figures for the festival’s deficit which was handled by BYF.
Benitez said the Bacolod Yuhum Foundation will still handle MassKara Festival 2023, but there will be a complete overhaul of its officials.
The foundation has also committed to streamline the activities for this year, he said.
Out of the 17 barangays that participated in the street dance and arena competition, they will only choose the 10 best performers, Benitez said.
This year’s MassKara Festival is scheduled on October 6 to 22. (Chrysee Semillano via The Visayan Daily Star (TVDS), photo courtesy of TVDS)
