Bacolod City – The Commission on Elections held a briefing with barangay officials of Bacolod City yesterday at the Montevista gymnasium to discuss salient points of Comelec Resolution No. 10732 concerning their role during the campaign period.
Acting Bacolod Election Officer Revo Sorbito said he reminded barangay captains that the Comelec Resolution authorizes them to monitor the different campaign activities relating to the election in their barangays and to timely submit reports based on their observation with corresponding documentation and evidences.
The same way, candidates are also mandated to submit campaign reports within 24 hours after their campaign activity to the Comelec. They will then compare the reports of the candidates with that of the barangay officials to determine if these will jive, he said.
Sorbito said they reminded the barangay officials of their role particularly that the campaign for national candidates has already started while that of local candidates will be on March 25. (Chrysee Semillano via The Visayan Daily Star (TVDS), photo courtesy of TVDS)
