Bacolod City – The Bacolod City government has implemented QR Codes in the Identification Cards (IDs) of its Senior Citizen and the Persons with Disability (PWD) sector.
By integrating QR codes into these IDs, the city aims to strengthen data security and prevent the proliferation of fake cards, which can affect both business operations and government processes, according to Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez.
The idea, pushed by Benitez, has already started serving and has distributed QR-coded IDs to 50,433 senior citizens and 17,078 PWDs across the city.
Aside from the PWD and Senior Citizen IDs, the Bacolod City government also included the use of QR Codes in various documents such as the Tax Declaration Form, Business Registration Plate, Tricycle Sticker, and the Land Tax Certification, among many others.
This initiative by the Bacolod City Government takes innovation to the next level to heighten data security and boost the level of transparency that strengthens trust between residents and businesses, ensuring that all transactions are both secure and verifiable, a statement from the City Public Information Office said.
With this innovative and sustainable project, Bacolod City fosters its vision of continued development and progress, it added. (Gilbert Bayoran via tvds)
