Bacolod City – The Committee on Markets and Slaughterhouse of the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod City will start regulating sidewalk vendors in the city.

Councilor Celia Matea Flor, committee chairman, said sidewalk vendors who are not registered or have not submitted their letter of intent to vend, will no longer be allowed to sell along the sidewalks of the main thoroughfares of Bacolod.

Flor said she will author a resolution regarding the matter because she believes that it is about time that they be regulated because some of the sidewalk vendors are already obstructing the streets which poses danger to both motorists and pedestrians.

She said she is proposing to transfer sidewalk vendors along Gatuslao, Luzuriaga and Gonzaga streets to Bonifacio Street beside the Bacolod Central Market, while those who are outside the Libertad South Public Market will be transferred to its annex building once the renovation is completed.

Other sidewalk vendors around the public plaza, the downtown area, and La Salle Avenue will be allowed to remain on these areas, she added. (Chrysee Semillano via tvds photo by tvds)
