Bacolod: BCPO warns vs. fake news on kidnappings

Bacolod City – The Bacolod Police Office warned the public against fake information being spread in social media, in connection with the alleged existence of a so-called kidnapping group that is victimizing teenagers.

In a statement. BCPO spokesman, P/Lt. Col. Sherlock Gabana, clarified that there is no truth to such reports.

Gabana said that an investigation is now ongoing to track down and identify netizens behind the spread of false information, which has caused alarm and confusion to the people of Bacolod City.

Those behind spreading fake news will be held liable for it, and charges will be filed in court as soon as they are identified, he added.

PCol. Joseph Thomas Martir, BCPO director, reminded the public to be discerning when it comes to information they receive from text messages, see in social media.
