BACOLOD CITY — Complaints from residents about uncollected garbage and typhoon debris in several barangays have prompted the Sangguniang Panlungsod to urge IPM Construction and Development Corp. (IPM-CDC) to immediately resolve the issue and strictly follow its garbage collection schedules, especially during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
The resolution, authored by Councilor Atty. Caesar Z. Distrito, came after reports of missed and irregular garbage pickups for over a month, leading to piles of waste along streets and public areas.
The situation has raised health and sanitation concerns and has affected the city’s cleanliness and public image.
“This resolution sends a clear message that prolonged missed collections will not be tolerated,” Distrito said.
“Uncollected garbage poses a serious risk to public health and community welfare. With the holiday season expected to increase waste generation, IPM must strictly follow its collection schedules and immediately deploy additional resources.”
The resolution calls on IPM-CDC to mobilize more personnel, garbage trucks, and equipment to clear the backlog of uncollected waste and typhoon debris and to ensure uninterrupted fulfillment of its contract with the city.
It also directs IPM-CDC to submit a Corrective Action and Operations Plan to the Sangguniang Panlungsod and the Bacolod Environment and Natural Resources Office, detailing its deployment strategy and collection routes for the holiday period.
