BACOLOD CITY — Authorities dismantled an alleged illegal online cockfighting operation and arrested 30 individuals at a private property in Barangay Concepcion, Talisay City, Negros Occidental, following an intelligence-driven operation on Thursday.
A report from the Philippine National Police (PNP) said two individuals were rescued during the operation, while a minor found at the site has been placed under proper care and protection.
Authorities said the location was allegedly used for illegal online cockfighting activities run by an organized group.
Equipment used for livestreaming, communication devices, and various cockfighting paraphernalia were recovered during the operation.
In a statement, PNP chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the operation reflects the organization’s firm stance against illegal gambling and similar activities that undermine law and order.
“We will not let these acts continue. Every operation we conduct ensures that the law is enforced and accountability follows,” Nartatez said.
He said the PNP will continue to sustain pressure against illegal networks to prevent their reestablishment and protect communities from further harm.
“Our message is clear—there is no space for illegal operations. We will persist until these activities are dismantled and those responsible are brought to justice,” he added.
The operation was led by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), in coordination with regional field units.
Authorities are preparing appropriate charges against the arrested suspects, while separate complaints for alleged trafficking in persons will also be filed against several identified individuals, including a dismissed police officer and others believed to have facilitated or supported the operation.
Follow-up operations are ongoing to identify other individuals possibly involved as part of the PNP’s sustained campaign against illegal gambling networks. (Glazyl M. Jopson via tdg photo by tdg)
