Bacolod: 100-K Teens Targeted To Get COVID-19 Jabs

Bacolod City – The Emergency Operations Center–Task Force (EOC-TF) here is eyeing to vaccinate at least 100,000 children aged 12 to 17 against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Dr. Chris Sorongon, deputy for medical data and analysis of EOC-TF, said the city has started reaching out to public and private schools for the registration of the vaccinees.

Sorongon said they are expecting thousands to avail the vaccine.

“Kung ang ginikanan nagpabakuna, mas gusto sang parents bilog na pamilya mabakunahan gid,” he added.

Sorongon said they are eyeing the vaccination rollout for minors by the end of this month or first week of November, pending the guidelines and advisory from the Department of Health (DOH).

He said the pilot vaccination for the said age bracket will kick off in Manila on October 15.

But, he said he has no idea yet which vaccine will be used.

The city government has vaccinated a total of 209,382 residents, as of October 9.

Of the number, 148,464 are fully vaccinated.
