FORMER Capiz Archbishop of Capiz Jose Cardinal Advincula is set to officially assume his new post as head of the Archdiocese of Manila next month.
Advicula’s solemn installation as the 33rd Archbishop of Manila will be held on June 24, 2021, coincidentally the capital city’s founding day, and will be marked with several activities at the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros, Manila.
The event will kick off with a welcome ceremony at 8 am at the Postigo Gate of Intramuros, where he is is expected to be greeted by Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso and Intramuros Administrator Guiller B. Asido.
It will be immediately followed by a Civic Ceremony at the Ayuntamiento, which currently serves as the office of the Bureau of Treasury, with the mayors of Manila, Makati, Mandaluyong, Pasay and San Juan joining the rites.
A mass at 9 am will attended by the bishops of the Philippines, the clergy of the Archdiocese of Manila, the clergy from the Archdiocese of Capiz, other high-profile guests, and the family of Advincula.
In the days following his arrival in Manila, Advincula will engage in these events: Celebrate mass at the Manila Cathedral with the laity of the Archdiocese of Manila (June 25); preside at a Solemn Vespers (Evening Prayer) with the consecrated men and women in the Archdiocese of Manila (June 26); visit Maricaban in Pasay City and preside at Mass at the Mary, Comforter of the Afflicted Parish (June 27).
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the office of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Manila (RCAM) said strict health protocols and a cap on participants will be implemented for the events.
“So as not to exceed the allowed number of persons in the venues, all the participants and guests in all these events have been identified beforehand,” RCAM said in a statement last Sunday.
Those who cannot be physically accommodated for the events may witness them through TV Maria as well as by live streaming on Facebook and Youtube.
