Bacolod City – The number of fully vaccinated Bacolodnons stood at 94,179, while those who received their first shot reached 155,242, executive director Em Ang of the Emergency Operations Center, said recently.

Ang said the number of Bacolodnons fully vaccinated was 22 percent of the 424,992 individuals targeted to be inoculated against Covid.

She said those who already received their first dose was 37 percent of the targeted vaccine recipients, adding that, so far, EOC was able to administer 215,399 vaccine doses of various brands.

Ang also reported the arrival of 10,000 doses of Sinovac vaccine from the national government and 5,000 doses of AstraZeneca donated by PLDT yesterday.

The AstraZeneca vaccines were part of the 10,000 doses pledged by PLDT chairman Manny Pangilinan as part of his commitment to help in the vaccination drive of Bacolod.

EOC records showed that Bacolod has received nearly 300,000 vaccine doses since the vaccination rollout started on March 5.

Ang said they now allow walk-in vaccination at various inoculation sites for healthcare workers, senior citizens, persons with comorbidities, essential workers, and indigent individuals.

She said they can cater to walk-in vaccine seekers until Friday but those who wish to be inoculated should have prior online registration.

Mobile vaccinations were also held at the Libertad and Taculing markets and in Purok BM, also in Brgy. Taculing.

During an online meeting yesterday, Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas called on local government units in Western Visayas to adopt the initiatives of Bacolod and Negros Occidental in maintaining low cases of Covid-19.

Treñas also asked the counsel of Ang, who represented Mayor Evelio Leonardia, on the city’s formula in sustaining the steady decline in the number of infections.

A 6-month-old baby from Brgy. Bata is the youngest to be infected with the Delta variant in Bacolod City, so far.

Ang said that aside from the infant, a 45-year-old man from Villamonte was added to the list of Delta cases in Bacolod, based on the results forwarded to the EOC by the Philippine Genome Center.

The specimens were taken July 9 to August 9, and were part of the 166 samples sent to the PGC. Both patients have recuperated but contact-tracing efforts and surgical lockdowns are now underway, Ang said yesterday.

The two patients will undergo re-swabbing as part of the Inter-Agency Task Force guidelines for Delta positive patients.

To date, Bacolod logged six cases of the Delta variant, 10 Theta, and several cases of Alpha and Beta variants.
