Davao del Norte – LtCol. Silas D. Trasmontero INF (GSC) PA relinquished his post as the Commanding Officer of the 89th Infantry (Makatao) Battalion to LtCol. Donald Gaffud, INF (GSC) PA during the Change of Command Ceremony held at the 89th IB Headquarters in Brgy. New Visayas, Sto. Tomas, Davao del Norte on October 30, 2020.
The ceremony was presided by MGEN. Reuben Basiao PA, Commander, 10ID and was attended by BGEN. Nolasco A. Mempin PA, Commander, 1003BDE, Hon. Edwin I. Jubahib, Governor, Davao del Norte, Hon. Leah Marie Romano, Mayor, Braulio E. Dujali, Atty. Elisa Lapiña, Municipal Administrator, Sto. Tomas, Officers and Personnel from other units, Brgy. Officials under the AO, teachers from DepEd of Paquibato District, former rebels and other stakeholders.
LtCol. Trasmontero in his message thanked everyone from the local government units, various government agencies to the different stakeholders–businessmen, teachers, and the IP community– for their unsolicited support and relentless effort.
LtCol. Gaffud, in his speech, assured everyone that he will continue what LtCol. Transmontero has started for the unit. He also thanked LtCol. Trasmontero for building a competent unit with a clear thrust to end the local communist insurgency in Davao del Norte, Bukidnon, and Paquibato District in Davao City.
The Officers, men and women of Makatao Battalion extend their heartfelt gratitude to their former Commanding Officer, LtCol. Trasmontero for his exemplary services rendered during the stint of his leadership. Moreover, the unit pledges its support to the newly installed Battalion Commander, LtCol. Gaffud.
