Cagayan de Oro- The hype was real as the first professional volleyball league in the country delivered what the fans were asking for as the Cignal HD spikers and Chery Tiggo Crossovers faced off via an exhibition match as the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) goes on tour as part of the core events of Higalaay Festival 2023, August 19, 2023, at the Aquilino Pimental, Jr International Convention Center of this city.
Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy kicked off the game with the ceremonial serve, and thanked the PVL organization for being part of the fiesta celebration as it brought volleyball fans of the city an experience of a lifetime to see their idols up close and personal, and showcasing what the PVL was all about with high intensity competition and pro level skills.
The first set went to the Crossovers as Pauline “Ponggay” Gaston together with the Laure sisters, Eya and EJ, led a late rally with a couple of service aces.
In the second set, Frances Molina of the Spikers showed why she was named league MVP (PVL Invitational Cup) leading the charge with their Team Captain Rachel Anne Daquis securing the second set.
But the game would eventually go to the Spikers in a thrilling 5 set game, bringing the crowd to it’s feet from start to end.
