PNP Chief General Debold M. Sinas announced the seizure of some P4.6-million worth of marijuana leaves and arrested three people during a buy-bust operation in Tarlac last Sunday. A report from Police Regional Office 3 identified the suspects as: Cornelio Chumil-ang, 33; Jomar Pallar, 24; and, Marcelino Caraowa, 40. All are residents of Mountain Province, the report said.

The suspects were nabbed during joint operations by anti-illegal drug operatives from Tarlac Provincial Police Office and Tarlac City Police Station at Barangay San Nicolas, Tarlac City.

The suspects were caught selling 24 bricks of suspected dried marijuana leaves with fruiting tops and 26 rolled suspected dried marijuana leaves with fruiting tops with estimated street value of P4.6 million. The drugs were reportedly placed in two plastic containers.

The policemen also seized two bottles of suspected cannabis oil with estimated value  of more or less P30,000 each.

Sinas said the policemen also recovered the marked money used during the buy bust along with two mobile phones, a Toyota Hi Ace van with plate number ZRL111 and an Isuzu mini-dump truck with plate number XAT765. The police said the latter was used to transport the suspected dried marijuana leaves.

“Upon further investigation, the suspects were found to be members of the same group arrested also in Tarlac last February,” Sinas said, citing the report. “The said group operates illegal drug activities at the area of Tarlac, Pangasinan and Mountain Province.”

The arrested suspects and the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the PNP office at Camp Gen. Francisco S. Macabulos, Barangay San Vicente, Tarlac City while documents for filing of complaint are being prepared.
